Harley Davidson sales in Bossier City, are booming. Dan Jovic examines why the demand for the company's motorcycles mirrors the trend nationwide, in a Money Matters report.
Harley Davidson sales in Bossier City, are booming. The demand for the company's motorcycles mirrors the trend nationwide.

"Our economy here has been strong. It's been strong for a few years. A little better than every where else," said Warren Gay, Finance Manager at Bossier City Harley-Davidson. "I think we are fortunate to be in Louisiana. North Louisiana especially."

Last week Harley-Davidson was just one of several big ticket manufactures to report a big jump in third quarter sales. Gay says many are buying up Harley's new models.

"We came out with some new models this year," said Gay "They re-did a couple of the bigger bikes. The touring models. And it has been a great result so far."

And while people are finding ways to pinch pennies in many other aspects of their lives, when it comes to their toys, they're spending.

"It's hard to pin point exactly why. But a lot of people just like to have these toys. This past week, we've had someone who's 19 that bought a bike," said Gay. "And we have customers that are in their 70's. If you are able to get on a bike and still ride, people are wanting to do it."
