President Obama says the United Nations must enforce chemical weapons ban in Syria. Jay Gray reports.

President Obama this morning reiterated America's commitment in the Middle East
in his speech to world leaders gathering at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

President Obama told world leaders the U.S. is dedicated to a political resolution in Syria and promised more aid for the Syrian people while calling on the U.N. to approve a resolution endorsing a U.S.-Russian plan to require the Syrian regime to turn-over and eliminate it's cache of chemical weapons.

"If we succeed it will send a powerful message that the use of chemical weapons has no place in the 21st century, and that this body means what it says," Mr. Obama said.
