PACE's LGBT Film Festival comes to Shreveport

The 5th Annual North Louisiana Gay & Lesbian Film Festival comes to Shreveport this weekend.
Jeremy Abbott, chairman of the 5th Annual North Louisiana Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, says this year's event will be bigger and better than ever. The event kicks off Friday, September 6th with films at the Robinson Film Center starting at 1 pm. Friday night at 7 pm local actor Dudley Beene will be featured in a screening of "First Period." Saturday, a showing of the film "Southern Baptist Sissies" is SOLD OUT but you can catch that flick again next Thursday, Sept. 12th. The final event is at 7:45 pm next Thursday night. "Bridegroom" will be shown and a panel will discuss issues surrounding gay couples after the movie wraps. 

Abbott says film festivals like this one show Shreveport is moving to a more progressive mindset. He adds that this year's event is attracting people from as far away as Los Angeles, many of whom are contributing to the local economy by staying in hotels for the weekend.
