Pedestrian struck and killed

One man is dead after police say he was hit by a vehicle while standing in the road.
On August 30, 2013, at 8:13 p.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Louisiana Highway 527 west of Louisiana Highway 157.
 
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2012 Volkswagen Passat, driven by 35-year-old Tammy Owens of Doyline, was traveling east on Louisiana Highway 527 when it struck a pedestrian who was standing in the road. Owens attempted to swerve around the pedestrian but was unsuccessful.
 
The pedestrian, 32-year-old Andrew Burks of Elm Grove, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bossier Parish Coroner’s Office.
 
Owens was wearing a seat belt and did not report any injuries. The passenger in the Passat, 99-year-old Kendal Owens of Doyline, was wearing a seat belt and did not report any injuries.
