Police release name of Waffle House shooter

A 56 year old Shreveport native is in jail for firing shots inside a Waffle House in Shreveport

A Shreveport man is behind bars after being accused of firing shots inside the Waffle House on Financial Drive near Pines Road Saturday.

Alan Ray Ferguson, 56, is in the Shreveport City Jail, charged with a single count of attempted first degree murder.

The shooting happened around 3:15 p.m. Police say Ferguson ordered a meal, and then pulled out a gun and started shooting.

As employees and customers ran out of the restaurant, employee Judith Spann was shot
in the arm and taken to University Health with non-life threatening injuries.

Ferguson ran from the restaurant and was taken into custody in the 6800 block of Raspberry
Lane. Police found Ferguson with a bottle of whiskey in his back pocket and
believe he was intoxicated. Police say he was agitated by a personal issue when
he entered the restaurant.

Investigators say Ferguson did not know any of the people in the restaurant at the time of
the shooting.
