A popular business owner dies after falling out of his boat on Cross Lake.

Orlando Chapman, the owner of Brother's Seafood was boating Tuesday at Melvin's Marina in the 1500 block of Cross Lake Blvd. Chapman fell in the water around 2pm.

A friend was in another boat next to Chapman’s boat when he fell in the lake. He was in the water up to 25 minutes. He was pulled out of the water by two divers. The water was 8-10 feet deep. According to Shreveport Fire officials Chapman wasn’t breathing when he was taken out of the water.

Scott Wolverton with the Shreveport Fire Department says the man passed away shortly after being transported to Willis-Knighton North.

Some at the scene believe he may have had a medical emergency. The exact cause of death is unknown. An autopsy will be performed Wednesday.
