A power outage at Centenary College gives several workers the day off.
Emergency crews were called to the college campus around 5 a.m. Monday morning.
A maintenance worker was concerned after spotting what appeared to be smoke coming from a man hole. The school later found there was steam coming from the hole.
"We had a high powered electrical line that shorted out at a point where there's a manhole and it shorted out and it caused a power disruption to five buildings," said Matt Bailey, Senior Director of External Relations.
The power outage affected mostly administrative buildings. College officials said students were not in danger and most of them were already on Thanksgiving break. The power was restored around 11 a.m.
