Providence House is asking people to join them in their first ever Sleepout 4
Independence. It’s Nov. 16 at Independence Stadium. It’s at 3 p.m. and carries
on until 7 a.m. the next morning.
It’s designed to bring awareness to the issue of homelessness in our area. There
will be a Box Shelter Design Challenge and graduates circling the crowd to
answer questions on what it’s like to be homeless.
There will also be music, food, and movies.
The non-profit hopes to raise $200,000. It comes at a time when funding from the
city is uncertain.
“We hope that will give us a little bit of a cushion but we don’t know. This is our
first year, and it will be annual event Sleepout 4 Independence to raise
awareness to fulfill our mission which is to break the cycle of homelessness,”
