Reaching new heights

After tasting the playoffs in 2012, North Webster returns with a trio of skyscraping receivers and LSU, Alabama recruit Devin White in the backfield
SPRINGHILL, La - The Knights have weapons in 2013 and just making the playoffs won't be good enough for North Webster in 2012.

"I think we can actually go further than the second round," Alexander Taylor, North Webster quarterback, said. "The playoff experience, it was great. The Kinder game was probably one of the best games I had. John Curtis....I mean..."

The Knights lost to John Curtis, but so did everyone else. The Patriots won the Class 2A state championship on their way to being voted the No. 1 high school team in the nation. But with new playoff rules instated for 2013, the private school powers are out of North Webster's path, giving them hope for a deep playoff run.

"I think we can go further than the second round. I think we can go all the way."

Alexander had reason for confidence.

The senior quarterback returns with 15-year old man child Devin White (6'1", 215lbs) as the centerpeice in his backfield. White's already received offers from LSU and Alabama as a Freshman.

Add a trio of receivers, whose heights read 6'3", 6'4", 6'5", and any quarterback would feel good about the passing attacking.

"It makes it so much easier on the quarterback when you have guys that can go get it," John Ware, North Webster head coach, said. "When you've got height you've got an advantage off-the-bat. You just don't see many corners over six feet tall."

The triple threat of towering wideouts are Willy Lee, Davion Lewis, and Montavious Smith.

Football's a new gig for Smith, who is a standout basketball player for the Knights, but is giving football a shot in 2013.

"Good extension on their arms and everything," Alexander said. "They can go get the ball."

North Webster will have the chance to set a championship tone in week one.

The Knights will square off against Class one alpha dog and 15 time state Champion Haynesville in their first game of the 2013 season.
