Shreveport Bossier Mavericks start their first season strong

Shreveport-Bossier's newest professional sports team is making themselves at home.
Shreveport-Bossier's newest professional sports team is making themselves at home.
The Mavericks are part of the American Basketball Association (ABA).  They're playing at the Hirsch Coliseum on the State Fair Grounds.  They're excited to announce their season opening tournament was a huge success.
"The turnout was pretty good and even in the tournament as we won, the more people we got in the crowd.  I think once we keep the winning streak alive and keep doing it, more people will start to fill up the space," said P.J. Couisnord, Maverick Shooting Guard.
The team is happy to be playing for Shreveport-Bossier, and hopes they can get the amount of fans like past sports team like the mudbug hockey from a few years ago.
"I mean anytime you have a good team in a good area - it kind of equals magic.  Once people start hearing more about us and start seeing that we're winning a lot... nice little things to do on the weekend," said Couisnord.
Tickets are available now, and management says a maverick game can be a very affordable outing for the entire family.
