A Shreveport Woman employed as a personal assistant to the owner of a local business was arrested this morning for embezzling from the company, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Phyllis Longmire is accused of embezzling more than $600,000 from Phillips Energy. Longmire issued 206 fraudulent checks and later altered the checks so she could negotiate them.

Caddo Sheriff’s Detective Bobby Herring investigated the case and said Longmire created fictitious payees in the company’s accounting program and then issued checks to the made-up payees.

Once the checks were issued, she would alter the checks and make them payable to her husband. She then deposited the checks into her personal bank account.

Longmire, 52, of the 9000 block of Windbrooke Drive, was arrested for felony theft. She was booked into Caddo Correctional Center.
