BATON ROUGE – Six LSU football players earned a nod on the Southeastern Conference
Coaches’ Preseason All-SEC teams, the league office announced Thursday.
Odell Beckham Jr. highlighted the list as the only player in the conference named
three times to the All-SEC teams. Beckham Jr. received first-team All-SEC
honors as a return specialist, second-team recognition as an all-purpose player
and third-team honors as a wide receiver.
Defensive tackle Anthony Johnson and safety Craig Loston joined Beckham Jr. as first-team
Linebacker Lamin Barrow was listed on the second-team defense, while running back Alfred
Blue and offensive tackle La’el Collins were named to the third-team offense.
Beckham Jr., Loston and Johnson were also named to the media’s preseason All-SEC first
team released in July at SEC Media Days.
LSU earned eight selections on the Coaches’ Preseason All-SEC squad, tied with
Georgia for second most in the conference. Alabama led the league with 16
This marks the 11th straight year of the SEC Coaches Preseason All-SEC Team. Coaches
were not permitted to vote for their own players.
No. 12 LSU is set to open the 2013 season against No. 20 TCU in the Cowboys Classic
on Aug. 31. The game will kickoff at 8 p.m. CT, and it will be nationally
televised by ESPN.
