A Shreveport college campus is going smoke-free in August.
The signs are up at LSU-S making it official: Smoking won't be allowed starting the fall 2014 semester.  It’s part of a new state law that bans smoking on public colleges across the state.
We spoke with a student studying community health at who believes it will create a better environment overall.  In fact, he was part of service project that found smoking creates a lot of litter.
"Actually, we found that containers where you put cigarette butts in there were cigarette butts all around the containers, not in them.  And then, it blows all in the grass and stuff and makes the campus look dirty."
Bossier Parish Community College will also be required to go smoke-free under the law.
