SUSLA students celebrate Pink Week to raise breast cancer awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and local college students spread the word.
Monday kicks off Pink Week on Southern University's Shreveport campus.
The Student Government Association partners with the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the event.
Each day of the  week features different activities for students, including a bra decorating contest.
SGA Vice President Markesha Woodson says, "As a university, we have an impact on what goes on with our students and SGA & SGB leaders at the school it's important for us to show awareness so that way our students can get involved as well."
Thursday, students participating in Pink Week will get a chance to win $300 for books.
The Race for the Cure takes place Saturday, November 2nd at Mall St. Vincent.
75-percent of the proceeds stay in Northwest Louisiana.
