Texarkana College has joined with Boston Reed, a national education provider, to bring new healthcare training programs that are affordable and prepare students for job opportunities in a growing healthcare industry.

The short-term training opportunities include Clinical Medical Assistant with Phlebotomy Practical, Phlebotomy Course, online Billing & Coding Procedures and online ICD-10 Coding Courses.

"We take great pride in offering affordable training or local adults that can lead to sustainable job opportunities in the healthcare industry. Employment trends show that through the year 2014, 20 percent of new jobs will be found in the medical industry and the majority of these positions will be filled by individuals with four years or less of training," said Joanne Rose, coordinator of Allied Health at Texarkana College. "Upon completion of the partnership program, many students are immediately eligible for employment and often pursue higher education, working toward nursing or other healthcare pathways."

Dr. Patti Pool, regional representative for Boston Reed, said, "We are pleased to partner with Texarkana College to offer high-demand, science-based curriculum for adults seeking a career change or an additional skill set for today's fast-growing healthcare industry. Boston Reed commits to offering a high-quality education with courses taught by seasoned experts including doctors, nurses and pharmacists."

Through the partnership model, Boston Reed provides instructors, material and helps place students in externships upon completion of classroom instruction. Program fees are approximately $2,300 and include textbooks, classroom materials, externships and certificates of completion. Courses will be held at Texarkana College, 2500 N. Robison Road, Texarkana, TX.

In person registration will begin August 12 in the Texarkana College Continuing Education Division, located in the Charles Nelson Administration Building on the TC campus. On-liine registration and additional information can be found at www.texarkanacollege.edu or by calling (903) 823-3384.
