Students at one Texarkana school lends a helping hand all for a good cause.

On Friday, the 3rd annual Mad Hatters Day was held.

It marks the end of their two week donation drive.

Baseball, sparkle, ski caps and many others were all collected.

Each will be given to a child with cancer.

Principal, Debbie Roberts, sees the hat drive as a teaching tool for students.

She hopes they'll learn about the benefits of helping others.

"The kids, they like to help and they'll come in and say, 'I've got my hat!'" said Roberts. "They're excited about it. It's so important that children know how to give, and take care of others and this is a small way we can help our community."

So far, about 50 hats have been donated.

Also almost $100 has also been raised.

If you'd like to donate a hat or hats, you can drop them off at Spring Lake Park Elementary school in Texarkana, Texas.
