Texarkana, Texas moves forward with plans for its new dog park.

A few months ago, they won a $100,000 grant from the "Bark for your Park Competition."

Since then, a special committee has worked on the area's features and design.

City officials have also mapped out the park's boundaries.

The new dog park will be at Spring Lake Park.

No trees will be removed, and a fence will be added.

The dog park will cater to both pets and their owners.

"You're going to come in one holding gate and that's going to have benches and water and be big enough for all to be in there and then depending on the size of the dog, you'll be able to go in the large dog area, or the small dog section," said Parks Manager Robby Robertson.

City officials hope to break ground before the end of the year.

They also say the park should be open and running by spring.
