RUSTON – Alex Hamilton scored 17 points but the Bulldogs came up short falling to UL-Lafayette 89-80 Wednesday night in the Thomas Assembly Center in front of a home crowd of 4,085 fans.
UL-Lafayette hit a three pointer 20 seconds into the contest to take a 3-0 lead and never looked back as the Ragin’ Cajuns never trailed in the ball game. LA Tech cut the deficit to three points on four separate occasions in the second half but that is the closest they would get.
LA Tech had three other players join Hamilton in double digit scoring. Raheem Appleby scored 15 points, Kenyon McNeail had 11 points and Kenneth Smith scored 10 points. The Bulldogs shot 4-20 from beyond the arc and 12-21 from the free throw line.
UL-Lafayette had two players record double-doubles. Elfrid Payton scored 17 points and added 10 rebounds. Shawn Long also scored 21 points to go along with 12 rebounds.
Louisiana Tech’s next action comes Saturday, Dec. 7 when the Bulldogs take on Southern in a 7 p.m. contest at the Thomas Assembly Center.
