Shreveport Police have arrested a man who allegedly fired shots early Wednesday morning in a Shreveport neighborhood.

Traffic was diverted after portions of Jewella Avenue had to be blocked off while officers tried to make contact with the suspect who had barricaded himself inside a home in the 3600 block of Del Rio.

Authorities say a second man and a 4-year-old child were also inside the home but they were not injured.

Bill Goodin, Chief Administrative Assistant with the Shreveport Police Department, tells NBC 6 that around 2:00 a.m. officers responded to a call of domestic violence at the home.

The officers were able to make contact with the alleged female victim, but the male suspect was not located at the time.

According to Goodin, a Shreveport Police unit was driving in the area and heard gunshots. The officers in the vehicle traced the shots to the home where the domestic violence call was made earlier.

Goodin said Shreveport Police SWAT Team members and the department's Mobile Command Unit were also on the scene.

NBC 6 News has crews at the scene and will continue to update you throughout the morning.
