Webster teen to be arraigned on 1st degree murder charge in baby's death

A 19-year-old mother will be arraigned in the death of her infant son on Sept. 9 in Webster Parish District Court.

A 19-year-old mother will be arraigned in the death of her infant son on Sept. 9 in Webster Parish District Court.

A Webster Parish Grand Jury Monday returned a first degree murder indictment against Brittany Tyson of Sibley in the July death of her 4-month-old son,
Riley Tyson.

Tyson was taken into custody in early August, after questioning; according to the arrest affidavit, she admitted to shaking the baby very hard because it would not stop crying and screaming.

After shaking the baby, Tyson told authorities she placed the infant in a playpen without checking on him for several hours.

In June, Tyson, who lived in Sereptra with family at the time, was charged with cruelty to a juvenile, after Riley had suffered burns to his leg.
