Calvary head coach John Bachman gives touching gesture to a team leader

NEW ORLEANS, La- Calvary head coach John Bachman calls senior defensive lineman Randy Woodle the face of Calvary.

"During the offseason, I asked the them about six character questions that had nothing to do with football," John Bachman, Calvary head coach, said. "I asked them to put down three teammates they thought represented that character value. Randy Woodle was the only senior that got nominated in all six categories. Randy is our team leader. That's not the coaches that picked him, that's his teammates."

Dominating late in the fourth quarter of the Div. III Select State Championship game, n Bachman called a simple run up the middle to Defensive Lineman Randy Woodle that went for a 3 yard touchdown. Nothing flashy, just tough. It was a tip of the cap to a team captain and team leader.

"It's a feeling I can't describe because I've never touched the football like that," Woodle said. "To be able to not only touch it, but to take it in for a touchdown, it was absolutely impossible to describe."

Calvary won their state title in school history over Archbishop Hannan 63-7 in the Louisiana Div. III select playoff bracket.
