Some sun returns Thursday, remaining cold.. freeze warning tonight

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana - It will be another cold and mostly cloudy morning for much of the ArkLaTex, but unlike the last 2 days, there isn't going to be much rain around to begin the day.

Expect temperatures in the 30s and low 40s for much of the morning. Drier air at the mid levels of the atmosphere will slowly take over through the day bringing a gradual clearing trend from north to south during the day and into tonight. I still think most areas will remain partly to mostly cloudy throughout the day, with all-day sunshine making a return Friday and into the weekend.

As far as high temperatures for your Thursday, it will be another cold one. HIghs will be in the low 50s along and south of the I-20 corridor. In southern Arkansas and Oklahoma some areas will be held in the mid to upper 40s this afternoon. We will also have a sometimes breezy north wind of 10  to 15 miles per hour, so there will be a bit of a 'wind-chill' factor throughout the day.

The coldest air of the season will settle in tonight as skies clear and we lose the blanket effect from the cloud cover. We will see lows in all areas in the 20s, meaning a long overnight freeze. A Freeze Warning will be in effect from 8 p.m. Thursday until 9 a.m. Friday.

Expect lots of sun tomorrow with highs remaining in the upper 40s and low 50s, before a slow warming trend takes us into the 60s late in the weekend and early next week.
