Sydney Simone joined the KTAL NBC 6 team as a News Reporter/ Multimedia Journalist in September 2019. In addition to news, Sydney has an interest in sports and occasionally shoots sports content for KTAL’s Texarkana First News.
Sydney comes to the ArkLaTex area from the Midwest. In May 2019, she graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and a minor in Organizational Leadership and Supervision. During her time in school, Sydney became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the National Association of Black Journalists.
Her love for sports developed at a young age as an athlete, but it didn’t stop there. In college, Sydney wrote articles on Big Ten recruits for Armchair All-Americans, anchored the Fast Track Live news segment on campus, and worked as a sideline reporter for Big Ten Network Student-U. In the summer of 2018, Sydney interned in the sports department at WLFI Channel 18 in West Lafayette, Ind.
Whether it’s as a sports anchor or reporter of news, her passion is telling stories in a creative way through video and writing. In the words of Sydney, “Journalism is more than just providing insight; it’s artistry. Behind every person is a unique story.” Being able to share someone’s experiences has always been a huge interest of hers.
Sydney Simone is excited to join the KTAL team and begin her journey as a journalist. Feel free to email story ideas to ssimone@KTALnews.tv and follow Sydney on Twitter, Instagram and on Facebook.
