LOVING LIVING LOCAL – Biskie and Josh make sopapillas in the Skent-N-Dent kitchen. Below is a list of instructions and ingredients you’ll need to complete this recipe. 

INGREDIENTS:

  • TORTILLAS (CUT INTO QUARTERS OR SMALLER)
  • 2 CUPS OF OIL
  • 1 TBSP CINNAMON
  • 2/3 C SUGAR
  • HONEY (OPTIONAL) 

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. HEAT OIL IN SKILLET ON MEDIUM HEAT. 
  2. MIX CINNAMON AND SUGAR. 
  3. CUT TORTILLAS IN FOR QUARTERS. 
  4. FRY THE TORTILLA QUARTERS (TRIANGLES) IN HEATED OIL UNTIL THEY POOF UP. FLIP. ABOUT 45 SEC – 1 MINUTE ON EACH SIDE. FRY THE OTHER SIDE UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN. 
  5. DEPENDING ON HOW MANY YOU CAN FIT IN YOUR FRYING PAN/SKILLET WILL DEPEND ON HOW LONG THE ENTIRE PROCESS TAKES. 
  6. PLACE ON PAPER TOWELS. SPRINKLE CINNAMON-SUGAR MIXTURE OVER BOTH SIDES. 

ALTERNATIVE METHOD:

  1. PLACE TORTILLA, RIGHT OUT OF THE OIL, IN THE BOWL WITH THE CINNAMON/SUGAR MIXTURE. 
  2. DRAG THROUGH THE MIX, FLIP, AND DRAG AGAIN. 
  3. PLACE ON PAPER TOWEL COVERED PLATE.
