The Second Circuit Court of Appeal has denied Grover Cannon’s request to restart jury selection in his murder trial.
Cannon is accused of killing Shreveport Police Officer Thomas LaValley.
Cannon’s jury selection is being held in Baton Rouge after a change of venue request was granted.
His lawyers argued that the entire process should start over due to the lack of people under the age of 26 in the jury pool.
A similar request has been made with the Louisiana Supreme Court. It’s unknown when they’ll decide on that request. In the meantime, jury selection remains on hold.
Once the jury is selected in East Baton Rouge, they will be brought back to Caddo Parish and sequestered for the remainder of the trial.
Cannon faces the death penalty if convicted.
