The spring travel season begins in a few weeks, and some places are expecting the busiest and most expensive travel season ever. 

Anyone planning a getaway should expect higher prices, and might need to consider alternative ways to pay for it.

“If you want to head to those hot spots this is the time when you redeem those loyalty points and use them for more luxurious properties,” says travel expert Jeannine Tornatore.

Less popular, but more affordable and equally entertaining destinations like Louisville, Kentucky and Nashville, Tennessee are also an option, but keep an eye on the weather.

Also, make sure you’re booking with the right credit card, one that offers travel protection.
