An investigation is underway after an East Texas teacher allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with a student.
On Tuesday Jefferson Independent School District placed a female high school teacher on administrative leave following the accusations.
Jefferson ISD promptly reported the facts to the appropriate authorities, including Child Protective Services and local law enforcement agencies.
Jefferson ISD Superintendent Rob Barnwell issued a statement:
“As a public-school district, the safety and well-being of our students remains our highest priority. We will continue to work closely with all agencies involved to assist with this investigation, and we will maintain communication with the appropriate people involved as this situation develops. If anyone has information which may be deemed as helpful to us regarding this investigation, please feel free to contact my office.”
