Local columnist arrested, charged with soliciting prostitution

A well-known Shreveport columnist is facing criminal charges.

Shreveport Police say John Settle, 70, was arrested Friday afternoon on a charge of soliciting prostitution.

According to the probable cause statement on the Shreveport city jail’s website, Settle is accused of offering an ‘agent money in exchange for sexual favors’. 

According to the jail website, Settle was arrested just before 5 p.m. Friday. Bond has not been set. 

Settle is known for his weekly columns and editorials that appear on his website and in local newspapers.
