NATCHITOCHES, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A drug task force investigation netted two arrests Friday night in Natchitoches and the seizure of hundreds of Ecstasy and Xanax pills they say were intended for sale in an illegal narcotics operation in the area.
According to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office, the arrests came after agents with the Natchitoches Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force Agents simultaneously raided homes in the 100 block of Reba Street and the 400 block of McDobson Way.
There, agents allegedly found more than 900 suspected Ecstasy tablets and 130 Alprazolam (Xanax) pills. They also found materials commonly used for the purposes of packaging and distributing illegal narcotics.
Deandre Wardsworth and Joe Carter have been booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center, charged as follows:
- Dearndre Wardsworth – one count Simple Possession of Marijuana; one court of Possession of Schedule 1 with Intent to Distribute; and one count of Possession of Schedule IV (Alprazolam) with Intent to Distribute. In addition, at the time of Wardsworth’s arrest, it was determined he also had three active bench warrants: one for Failure to appear through the City of Natchitoches for the charge of Simple Possession of Marijuana; and two from the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office for Failure to Pay Fines for Child Support.
- Joe Carter – one count of Possession of Schedule I (Ecstasy) with Intent to Distribute; and one count of Possession of Schedule IV (Alprazolam) with Intent to Distribute.
The two now are awaiting bond to be set.
The operation was the culmination of a long-term narcotics investigation launched in February 2019 by the NMJDTF. During the investigation, the NPSO says agents developed information leading them to believe that Wardsworth and Carter were distributing illegal narcotics in the Natchitoches area.
