Natchitoches Parish man charged with murder of wife and unborn child

NATCHITOCHES PARISH (KTAL/KMSS) – A Campti man has been arrested and charged in the death of his wife and unborn child.

According to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office, a city marshal and EMS were called to a home in the 300 block of Greenville Drive in Clarence around 9:45 Monday morning after a woman there called 911 because her pregnant niece was unresponsive. They arrived to find 22-year-old Elonzeya Zoleah Teal-Houston of Campti dead in a back room. She was five months pregnant.

While detectives were still on the scene processing evidence and speaking with family members, the sheriff’s office says the victim’s husband came home.

While on the scene, Christopher O’Neal Houston Jr., of Campti the husband of Mrs. Teal-Houston drove up to the crime scene.  Detectives say Mr. Houston he appeared very nervous at the crime scene. They focused their investigative efforts towards Houston and transported him to the NPSO Criminal Investigations Division for questioning.

Within twenty minutes, NPSO says Houston confessed to the murder of his wife by strangulation Sunday evening at a relative’s home in Clarence. He then wrapped his wife’s body in a sheet and placed it in the corner of a bedroom before heading to Natchitoches buy some boots for his job.

Christopher Houston was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center Monday afternoon on charges of second-degree murder in and first-degree feticide. He remains held without bond.

The body of Elonzeya Teal-Hoston has been taken to a forensics lad for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
