SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Shreveport police are investigating reports that at least three people were shot at during the police chase last week that ended with the gunman being fatally shot by officers, and they want to them to come forward.
Police say investigators have information that leads them to believe that at least three individuals at or near the Dollar Mania parking lot at 3515 Jewella Avenue may have been shot at during the melee just before 7 p.m. on April 10. That’s near where a man now identified as 27-year-old Trivenskey Odom had just exited Interstate 20 with numerous officers from multiple agencies in pursuit.
Odom had reportedly been brandishing and randomly firing a handgun during the 35 to 40-minute chase, which started in Blanchard after sheriff’s deputies got a call saying he was threatening to harm himself and others. They were joined by Shreveport police and Louisiana state troopers as the pursuit continued into Shreveport.
They learned afterward that Odom also was accused of shooting a driver in the leg while stealing a car a few hours earlier.
As SPD Violent Crimes Investigators continue to piece together what happened during the course of the chase and the officer-involved shooting that ended it, police are asking those who believe they were shot at to come forward.
Investigators can be reached at 318-673-6955 Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and at 318-673-7122 after hours and on weekends.
