UPDATE: Shreveport Police are asking for the public’s assistance to locate a man believed responsible for the shooting death of another man Monday night in west Shreveport.
Just after 11:30 p.m. on November 21, 2017, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to a shooting at an apartment complex located in the 2000 block of Bert Kouns Industrial loop. As officers arrived at the scene, it was learned an adult male was suffering multiple gunshot wounds. The victim of the shooting, identified as 29 year old Marcus London, was transported from the scene of the shooting, to University Health hospital where he later died.
Shreveport Police investigators were notified of the incident and arrived a short time later and have been working tirelessly in effort to locate the person responsible for fatally wounding London. Based on preliminary information gathered at the scene, authorities learned both London and 21 year old Johnathan Kelly, resided at the apartment complex; however, they lived in separate buildings. Police have reason to suspect an argument between the girlfriends of both London and Kelly led to the men ultimately getting drawn into the matter. Following a verbal exchange between the two, it is believed the men parted ways, only for Kelly to arrive at London’s apartment a short time later and allegedly fire shots at him from a handgun. Based on additional investigation, detectives were successful in procuring a warrant for the arrest of Kelly, charging him with a single count of Second Degree Murder. Bond in the matter has been set at $750,000.00. Persons with any information on the whereabouts of Johnathan Kelly are asked to contact Crimestoppers at: (318) 673-7373 or visit their website at www.lockemup.org Crimestoppers is offering a $1,000.00 reward for information leading to the arrest of Kelly.
