Hawks resilient in win over Canton

The Pleasant Grove Hawks are back in the regional semifinals following their sweep of Canton, but getting that sweep looked in doubt in the late innings.

The Hawks were down one, and on their final out, but clutch hits by Seth Hopkins and Ben Harmon propelled Pleasant Grove to a walk-off win.

The Hawks had their backs against the wall, and Coach Fincher liked how they responded.

Riley Fincher said, “Just resilient. A great group of kids. We have a lot of kids that haven’t been in that situation before, and just to see them respond was huge. Huge seeing them respond, seeing guys who haven’t been here, guys that re first year at this level, to see them step up big when they’ve been struggling, it’s huge.”

Ben Harmon said, “This one was tremendously huge. We knew that Canton was a good team. We knew they were fundamentally sound. We came to play. We were prepared. We’re good in heat. We’ve been to Austin a few times in a row, and we knew we’d get the job done.”

The Hawks will take on Argyle in a one game playoff on Thursday in Rockwall.
