Former Texas A&M standout Johnny Manziel has been released from the Montreal Alouettes after he apparently violated his contract.

It is unclear what part of his contract Manziel violated.

“We are disappointed by this turn of events. Johnny was provided a great deal of support by our organization, in collaboration with the CFL, but he has been unable to abide by the terms of his agreement,” said Montreal GM Kevin Reed in a statement.

The team also said that the Canadian Football League has banned any team from signing Manziel.

“The CFL has informed all of its member clubs that it will not register a contract for Manziel should any club attempt to sign him.”
