Keithville shooting scene

More than two dozen Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office Units were on the scene of a shooting in Keithville where at least one person was wounded and the gunman was believed to be holed up inside a house.

It happened just before 10 p.m. at 10955 Springridge Texas State Line Road, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Deputies said a man broke into the house where his ex-girlfriend, her children ages 12 and 14, and another man lived, according to CPSO.

The suspect confronted the woman and man and fired several shots inside the residence, striking the man in the buttocks. The male victim escaped from the house and was taken to Ochsner LSU Health by ambulance.

Inside the residence, the suspect held the woman and children at gunpoint. When deputies arrived on scene, the suspect went outside and the woman and children were able to flee the house. They were uninjured.

While outside, the suspect fired shots at deputies before retreating back inside the residence.

Deputies have established a perimeter at the scene and are working to confirm the suspect’s location at this time.

According to CPSO spokesperson Cindy Chadwick, the shooting victim’s wounds are not considered to be life-threatening and no deputies have been injured.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
