19 people displaced after apartment fire

The Cornerstone Apartment complex was the scene of a major fire Sunday night.

Shreveport firefighters arrived on the scene at 8:44 p.m. with more than 50 Shreveport firefighters and paramedics in total to handle the fire. The blaze spread so quickly that the on scene incident commander Battalion Chief Kenneth Frazier had to call in additional help. The flames were under control by 9:13 p.m.

The blaze burned through at least 8 apartments, 6 of them were currently being occupied. A total of 19 tenants are currently displaced. No citizens or firefighters had reported injuries.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Shreveport Fire Investigators. The local Red Cross along with the Cornerstone Apartment management team are working to secure housing for the occupant’s that have been displaced.
