In Miller County, police arrest three people in a felony animal cruelty case. “Appalling, sickening” says the Director of Animal Services, Charles Lockey as he describes his feelings towards the recent case.
“We gave notices repeatedly, someone was removing the notices.” says Lockey.
He says neighbors complained about two dogs being neglected at home on Laurel Street.
After investigation, Lockey says he got search and seizure warrants for the dogs.
Little did he know, they would not be his only rescue.
“We actually could hear a goat bleeding outside” says Lockey.
He says in the home he saw a goat, lying on the floor in his own filth.
“Poor little thing could barely hold his head up” says Lockey.
He says they found two other dogs in horrible conditions as well.
“Infested with paretics, flea’s ticks worms” says Lockey.
Police filed three warrants which led to the arrests of Tyler Green, 21, Victoria Anderson, 23, and William Evans, 25, all from the Texarkana area.
Three dogs were able to be treated at the animal adoption center, but the goat and another dog had to be treated at the vet.
Only one made it out alive.
“The goat unfortunately died later that night” says Lockey.
Lockey says because of quick action, the dogs are making a speedy recovery.
