4th Annual Fox Fan Fest this Saturday

4th Annual Fox Fan Fest will explode on the scene this Saturday August 19th from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m. at the Texarkana Texas Convention Center, 2919 S. Cowhorn Creek Loop in Texarkana, Texas.

Fox Fan Fest showcases high school football teams, college soccer, baseball and softball teams, high school band performances and much more. Fox Fan Fest will culminate with a hall-of-fame induction ceremony following the fest at 5 p.m.

There is no cost to attend the event as all the tickets are paid for by Fox Sports Radio 1400 in Texarkana.

“We do this event every year so fans can kick off their football season in style and see their kids perform in the bands and their players be introduced and interviewed on the stage,” Fox Sports Radio 1400 owner Bob DelGiorno said.

Fox Sports Radio 1400 and vendors will be giving away thousands of dollars in prizes free at the event and they’re will also be a drawing for a trip for two on the Fox Sports Southwest Fan Express for the Rangers vs. Astros game on August 25th with tickets, round trip transportation, Rangers merchandise and concession stand money all included.

The football teams from Texas High, Arkansas High, Pleasant Grove, Liberty-Eylau, Atlanta and Queen City will attend fan fest along with their head coaches; each school’s band will perform outside in Band Land.,

The event is sponsored by Texas A&M University-Texarkana, Texarkana ISD, Kristy Smith at State Farm, KLFI-TV, McDonalds, McLarty Ford and Texarkana Emergency Center.

There are dozens of exhibitors including numerous extracurricular-activities booster clubs will have exhibits. Vendors offer show specials, information and more.

The Fox Fan Fest Hall-Of-Fame induction ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. the night of the Fan Fest. Earnest Rhone, Johnny Toombs, Jimmy Phillips, Louie Avery and Rose Warfield McGill are this year’s hall-of-fame inductees.

Earnest Rhone is a defensive coach for Texas High’s Football team and he played in a Super Bowl with the Miami Dolphins. Johnny Toombs is the winningest coach in Arkansas High football history. Jimmy Phillips is the greatest coach in Texarkana-American League history. Louie Avery is a sports-writer for the Texarkana Gazette and Rose Warfield McGill is a fan inductee who hosted the NFL alumni weekend for more than a decade.
