Southern University Shreveport celebrates the opening of the Alphonse Jackson Jr. Hall.

It’s the first new academic building on the campus in 45 years.

It houses science, technology, engineering, and math classes and a large lecture hall with a seating capacity of 150.

“We look forward to this on the campus, I know our students are looking forward to it because we see them walking by everyday trying to peep in. But we’ll officially open it probably mid-semester” said SUSLA Chancellor Dr. Rodney Ellis.

The building took over two years to complete and cost $7.5 million.
