The American Red Cross is giving back to the men and women who risk their lives daily to keep us safe. The American Red Cross of Louisiana Service to Armed Forces division is honoring active duty, reservists, veterans and their families with a Warrior Summit.
The American Red Cross has been providing support to those serving in the Armed Forces since Clara Barton began her humanitarian aid work on the battlefields of the Civil War. Service to Armed Forces (SAF) programs provide assistance to 1.4 million active duty service members, 800,000 members of the National Guard and Reserve, 24 million veterans, and their military families. SAF core services include supporting military hospitals and Veteran Affairs health care facilities, building strong and resilient communities, and providing emergency communication services.
The Warrior Summit taught them techniques to relieve stress and unwind. They also learned how to Cajun line dance and how to budget money.
Colleen Morgan the Regional Program Specialist for the American Red Cross says,”we just want to make sure that they know that there is a place to go, a place to call, to connect with, to connect with the resources that they need.”
More than 70 people attended the summit.
