A Texas classroom got a strange and potentially dangerous delivery Thursday afternoon when a box of military ammunition fell through the roof.
The ammo apparently fell from a military helicopter out of fort bliss before crashing into Parkland Elementary School.
The box containing 50-caliber ammunition landed in the classroom at about 3:45-p-m so no students were present and no one was hurt.
Authorities say local police secured the ammo and will return it to Fort Bliss military police.
A commander at Fort Bliss has apologized and says the incident is under investigation.
They will also reassess current flight patterns to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
The school district’s superintendent says insurance will pay for repairs to the roof. He’s just glad a child wasn’t injured or killed.
