People with outstanding warrants have an opportunity to avoid arrest.
The Shreveport City Marshal’s Office is hosting its Amnesty Day next Saturday. People can pay their warrants or fees at the city court building. Their warrants will be recalled and they’ll get a new court date. It’s so people don’t have to worry about being arrested and paying additional fees.
“Amnesty day has been a great tool that we use to clear up warrants here in our city courts. Last year we cleared over 300 cases. We had about over 200 people who came in to take advantage of amnesty day,” said James Jefferson, Shreveport City Marshal’s Office.
Amnesty Day is February 16 from 8 to 5 p.m.
This is the event’s 11th year.
