Shreveport Councilman James Green has been asking the city, along with the Shreveport Police Department, to release the dash cam footage from a Feb. 5th shooting involving an officer.
“As much as actually what happened, the public deserved to see it, Green said. The family deserved to see it.”
Shreveport Police Chief Ben Raymond released the footage to city council on Tuesday with the public watching as well.
The footage is of Anthony Childs’ death, which was ruled a suicide more than a month after his initial death.
“It’s chilling,” said Lauren Anderson, who watched the video during the meeting. “It’s heartbreaking. It’s terrifying that the city thinks showing us this is going to shut us up. That’s going to keep people quiet. That was not satisfying whatsoever.”
