Arkansas governor appoints prosecuting attorney


Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson has appointed John Thomas Shepherd of El
Dorado to serve as the prosecuting attorney for the 13th Judicial District of Arkansas. Shepherd will replace Davis Butler, who passed away earlier this year. Shepherd will serve out Butler’s term, which ends Dec. 31, 2018.

Shepherd is a partner at Law Offices Shepherd & Shepherd, P.S. in ElDorado and has served as the deputy prosecuting attorney for the 13th Judicial District since November 2016.

He currently serves on the board of directors for the Eighth Circuit Bar Association and is the president of the Union County Bar Association. He also is recognized as a certified contract advisor by the National Football League Players Association.

The 13th Judicial Districts serves Calhoun, Cleveland, Columbia, Ouachita, Dallas and Union Counties.
