An Arkansas panel has given final approval to regulations for doctors who prescribe high doses of opioids to follow in hopes of limiting potential abuse.
A subcommittee met yesterday at the State’s Capitol to enact the requirements previously recommended by the CDC.
The rules require doctors to explore alternative treatments when prescribing daily doses of the equivalents of 50 milligrams of morphine for chronic pain.
