The United States Army is facing challenges when it comes to recruiting.
Brigadier General Kevin Vereen and other vets stopped in Shreveport to talk about the struggles nationally and locally.
Nationally only 29 percent of today’s youth are eligible for military service mainly because of obesity, drugs, low academic skills, and physical or mental medical issues.
That’s also being seen on the local level. Next year, the army plans to bring more recruitment events to Shreveport to inspire people to join.
