Ashdown community auction kicks off Saturday night!

Local News

One of the year’s biggest events in Ashdown, Arkansas is set for this Saturday night!

The eighth annual Ashdown Community Auction is organized by Domtar’s community advisory team. The event raises money that goes right back into the community for various projects downtown and at Ashdown City Park.

Proceeds from this year’s event will help add covers to batting cages at the park.  This year, organizers will start saving some proceeds to eventually bring a splash pad to the park.  Last year, the event raised over fifty-seven thousand dollars.  Over the years, the event has raised almost three hundred thousand dollars for Ashdown community projects.

There will be thousands of auction items available including autographed jerseys from Drew Brees and Darren McFadden.  A football autographed by the head coach of the Razorbacks will also be available.  Trips will be raffled and auctioned off.  Those include a Carnival cruise, a coyote hunt, a heli-hunt for hogs, and Charlotte sports weekend.

Event organizer Tammy Waters said, “There’s something for everybody.  It’s a very family, fun event
and we have a live auction, a silent auction, a penny auction, general auction, baked goods sale as well as some card raffles going on so everybody can get involved and have a hand in it.”

The event will be held at Ashdown High School.  Doors open at 4pm.  You can learn more on their Facebook page @ashdowncommunityfoundation.
