Local News

Crews with the Shreveport Fire Department were busy battling back to back fires on July 4th.

The first blaze broke out shortly before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 2900 block of Meadow Ave.

When crews arrived they found two trash cans engulfed in flames spreading to a nearby home.

The fire caused damage to the utility room and an exterior wall.

The four people and two dogs inside the house at the time of the fire escaped unharmed.

A short while later crews responded to a fire in the 7000 block of West Canal Blvd.

When firefighters arrived they say heavy smoke coming from a one-story home.  Flames were also seen coming from a boat next to the house.

The family that lived at the home had moved out earlier in the day.

No one was injured in the blaze.

The cause of both fires is under investigation.
