Barksdale Officers Spouses Club raises money for military kids

Local News

The Barksdale Officers Spouses Club got some green this St. Patrick day at the Shamrock Shuffle 5-K.

It’s the third annual 5-K race and fun run for kids that went through the Highland neighborhood. Close to four hundred runners  showed up to tackle the three point one mile run, that ended with a big party at Marilynn’s Place. The event raised money for Barksdale service members and their families.

Allyson Bean, President of the Barksdale Officers Spouses Club says, “we like to provide support socially and also through our military and charitable causes to make sure we are taken care of our own. We want to see our dependents go out and get educations to further themselves as well as help with different organizations.”

The event raised more than $35,000 for local and national military charities and the Barksdale Officers Spouses Club scholarship program.
