Bear spotted in Texarkana, Arkansas tree

Local News

TEXARKANA, Ark. (KTAL/KMSS) – A bear sighting Tuesday night on Blackman Ferry Road in Texarkana has generated a lot of interest on social media.

Officials believe it’s the same black bear recently spotted by residents in Cass County, Texas. The bear is estimated to be about 3-years-old and weigh about 200 pounds.

Wildlife agents ask people to not leave food for the bear so he can find a suitable place to live on his own. They add that he’s also likely looking for a mate. “Our goal at this point is just to keep him moving through the area and let him go find him a piece of habitat that he can be a bear in,” said Eley Talley, biologist with Arkansas Game and Fish.

Agents also ask people to not leave out trash or bird feeders if they think the bear might be in their area.
